Superman
Posted by Mimi on June 4th, 2008 filed in LifeEver wonder what kind of person your spouse really is? One sure way to find out is to get ill. Chronically ill.
One of the absolute best things that have come out of this disease is for me to be able to see this side of my husband. Don’t get me wrong. I have always known I am blessed to have Dave in my life. My family and I have always called him Superman because he has such super human skills and powers. Anyone who has ever spent any time with us can attest that we truly are each other’s best friend, and that we are deeply in love. But most of our 10 years together have been spent living a charmed life.
Since I have been ill, Dave has shown me each and every day that he is a truly amazing man. He has been emotionally supportive- encouraging me to rest and gently patting my arm and telling me that I will beat this thing. Physically, he has been my hands when I can’t open something, my shoulders when I can’t dress myself or shampoo my hair, my feet and knees when I can’t walk. He has been there for me in each and every way.
He is an amazing husband and father. He is my Superman.
(Apparently, however, blogs are his Kryptonite– all he does on the computer is check the weather and look at golf clubs– he’ll never know I wrote about his greatness- I could also write really embarrassing things about him and he would never know. . .something for me to think about.)
