Ouch! My Everything Hurts.

Posted by Mimi on June 18th, 2008 filed in Lyme

I don’t want bore you with complaints, but I have written a list of symptoms.

Keep in mind, my symptoms can be completely different from the symptoms someone else experiences with lyme, so don’t let your brain paint an picture of lyme based only on this list .

Some of my symptoms are constant, and others change daily. This list illustrates how it can affect every part of your body, mind, and spirit.

Severe fatigue (most days I don’t get off the sofa for more than an hour a day)
Irregular heartbeat
Facial numbness
Numbness in legs
Neck pain and stiffness
Sweats (Similar to malaria sweats-drenches my clothes sometimes)
Lower back pain
Spinal bone pain
Chest pain
Ataxia
Ringing in ears (LOUD)
Weakness
Nausea
Muscle pain and atrophy
Joint pains
Swollen joints
Hot, red joints
Muscle twitching
Trembling
Frequent sore throats
Hypersensitivity to noise
Sensation of body about to “Lock Up”
Headaches
Dizziness
Weight loss (over 15% of my prior weight)
Cloudy thinking and forgetfulness
Jaw and tooth pain
Pain when opening jaw/mouth
Blurred vision
Musical hallucinations (weird, huh?)
Balance problems (could not pass a test similar to a field sobriety test)
Numbness and tingling
Altered taste sensations
Hypersensitivity to smell
Severe bursitis
Swollen feet, ankles, knees, wrists

I am sure I have missed some symptoms, but this list represents most of them. Many symptoms follow the Lyme’s reproduction cycle of every 3 or 4 weeks. During each cycle, and during treatment, symptoms get worse. At times I have honestly felt like I was dying.

The idea is that after each “Herx” (bad symptoms caused by treatment), things will be a little less severe, and I will have fewer bad days. Cool. Sign me up.

My father also had musical hallucinations. Unfortunately, most of the time, he said the music was horrible.

I lucked out! Mine was classical. It was quite weird to hear it, though!
