Okay, You’re Forgiven
Posted by Mimi on July 21st, 2008 filed in Life, LymeI talked to my Doctor the other day. I had an appointment to see him and was going to ride with my friend and her husband, both of whom have lyme. We had back to back appointments. My psychic intuition told me not to go. Glad I didn’t. My doctor ended up checking my friend into the hospital. She is still there, and is expected to be there several more days. This is her second stay at a hospital in the last three months.
When I cancelled my appointment, I asked for a phone consult. When he called, I told him I was a bit better. At the very least, it seems as if I am going in the right direction, albeit slowly. I told him one of my (many) fears is that I am only feeling better because of my pain meds and I am not actually healing.
His response was reassuring. “You are getting better. You are listening to your puritanical side and think there is a price to pay for feeling better. Don’t worry. You have already paid a price. You have paid with the last three years of your life. Now is the time for you to get better”.
Wow. That was nice to hear. As a rule, I don’t think of myself as puritanical. But, I guess I do believe hard work is necessary to get results. There is no doubt that I have worked hard to get better.
For those of you who read my blog religiously, you’ll remember this doctor pissed me off last time I talked to him (blog post: Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde). If I am so puritanical, I guess I should forgive him. For now.
