Your Kiss is On My List
Posted by Mimi on July 31st, 2008 filed in Life, LymeOne day I was talking to my BFF friend Chris. I was telling him that I was looking forward to feeling better. With his ever supportive attitude he said “We should make a list of all the things you can’t do now. As you get better we will celebrate as you mark each item off the list.” You can see why he is my BFF.
So, here is my list:
Physical:
- Use a hand held stapler as it is intended to be used. (Now I have to hold the paper in the stapler’s mouth as I bash the top of it with an old clunky tape dispenser.)
- Lift my water glass with one hand.
- Walk down stairs properly- and without pain.
- Lift my right arm above my head and straighten it. (Being able to actually shave under there without Dave’s help will be nice too. As it is now, I usually look like I am smuggling a Brillo pad.)
- Strap Cooper into a car seat or stroller without pain.
- Run. Skip.Walk.
- Ride my horse, Nika’i. This is a big one.
- Gain 15 pounds of muscle. (I am now down to a paltry 99 pounds with my clothes and shoes on.)
- Purposely NOT park in the handicap space because I feel like walking. Or better yet, skipping across the parking lot.
- Have hands that work properly. And feet that don’t hurt with every step.
Mental:
- Regain my mental acumen.
Emotional:
- Not fear that Cooper contracted this nasty disease.
- Know that I will get better.
- Know that I will achieve these lists.
After I check off my entire list and regain my strength, I think I will gather all those Doctors who say “Lyme doesn’t exist in Texas,” and tell them to kiss my lily white ass.

Awesome list! I can’t wait to see you check off all the things on it and you know I’m more than happy to help in any way that I can. Maybe you should get into the Therasuit program, just a thought.

Melissa,
I just read everything to catch up on you! I’ll be there when you want to get up on your horse. (Better, I’ll ride him first to see what mood he’s in!) Call me. with love
