Room With a View

We stayed in a house in Ruidoso that had an awesome deck where we ate dinner each night. The view was beautiful. We saw enormous deer one night (forgive the poor quality of the picture- my battery needed to be charged) and humming birds most days.

It was so peaceful and relaxing you felt like you were in the secluded woods.

Until. . . . .

“NIBBLER, GIGI. . . . . NIBBLER, GIGI. . . . NNNNNIIIIIIIIIBBBBLLLLERRR!! GEEEEE GEEEEEEE!!”

The neighbor up the street had two dogs that got out. Daily. I don’t blame her for being upset by her dogs missing, but if it upsets her so much, it would seem logical to prevent it from happening with such regularity. Just sayin’.

One night the daughter yelled their names until midnight. Because of the mild weather in Ruidoso, most houses don’t have air conditioning, so people sleep with the windows open. I didn’t exactly get good sleep that night.

One night the teenage son and daughter got in a fight. You would have thought it was a sailors’ convention. I have never heard the F-bomb dropped so many times and with such enthusiasm that the entire neighborhood could hear. Then their mom got involved and even more F-bombs and other choice words ensued. Very classy.

One of the down sides of Ruidoso is their zoning is a bit mixed, to say the least. As a result, you can have a super cute home like the one we stayed in next to something not-so-cute.

This is the house where the Cuss family lived:

There was also a family who added on to their travel trailer. That would be akin to parking your Yukon and adding a “wing” to it.

Very clever.
