I’m Still Alive

Hey everyone. So very sorry I have abandoned you for two weeks. I have felt horribly. My knees are still huge, I hurt all over, and am now down to only 94 pounds. I went to the specialist in Louisiana and stayed for two days. The trip wiped me out.

We stayed at the Paragon Casino which totally rocked. The people were really nice there. They had a super cool alligator pond that centered the lobby.

Of course, the alligators’ skin was much less leathery than the old ladies who chain smoked and sat in front of the slots all day. You know the type. They are usually also hooked up to an oxygen tank on wheels. Luckily, the tubes going into their noses don’t interfere with the cigarettes hanging out of their mouths.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to take advantage of the casino because I was so sick. But, our room was nice.

Anyway, the doc took one look at me and told me I need to be on intravenous antibiotics in addition to oral antibiotics. Pronto. He also QUADRUPLED my antimalarial drug. Ugh.

I have gone for daily iv infusions this week while we waited to schedule a port to be installed in my chest. A port is like a permanent iv line, and is often used for chemo patients.

I am having the surgery tomorrow. Then I will start receiving the iv meds at home two times a day. I will likely get worse (again) before I get better. I know that is hard for you to believe.
