Surgery
Posted by Mimi on May 11th, 2009 filed in Adventure, LifeWe are scheduled for surgery to have Dave’s tumor removed. We’ve been told it is likely benign. But, it is huge, and is wrapped around his optic nerve and his pituitary gland. It is also pressing on his carotid artery. Very scary. He will be in the hospital for about a week. Unfortunately, our area didn’t have any surgeons that we felt great about, so we are traveling about 3 hours away. My family will be there with us for the day of surgery, and my sweet brother, Chris, flew half way around the world to be with us for the week. Since I am still frail, it will be very helpful physically and emotionally, to have him with me at the hospital and the hotel that will be our home for the week.
I am really going to miss Cooper. I can’t believe I won’t see him for a week. But, we brought am 8×10 photo of him smiling with his mouth wide open.

I was sure to tell him repeatedly that we were going “bye bye” for a few days. He seemed to understand, but went about his toddler life. having no idea that his parents were terrified inside.
When I dreamed of a spontaneous week long getaway that cost in excess of $100,000, this isn’t really what came to mind.
