Christchurch

I am sending peace and healing to Christchurch, New Zealand.

While this earthquake (6.3 magnitude) was not as strong as the one in September (7.1 magnitude), its location, timing, and aftershocks have caused much more damage, injuries, and death.

The City’s Christchurch Cathedral is badly damaged, buildings have collapsed, and news reports say as many as 300 could be dead.

As most of my readers probably remember, my brother lives in Antarctica for half of the year.  He and his friends from all around the world fly to New Zealand when traveling to and from Antarctica.

Unfortunately, my brother and many of his friends just left the ice a few days ago and landed in Christchurch.

Luckily, he is safe.  Hopefully his friends and co-workers are as well.
